About the Online ZIP Tool
What is the ZIP Tool?
The Online ZIP Tool is a versatile, browser-based utility that allows you to both decompress (unpack) and compress (pack) files. You can upload a ZIP archive to inspect its contents and download individual files, or you can upload multiple files to create a single downloadable ZIP archive. All operations are performed locally on your computer, ensuring your files are not uploaded to a server.
How to Unpack a ZIP File
To unpack a ZIP file, simply drag and drop your .zip file into the 'Unpack ZIP' tab, or click the area to open the file selector. Once the file is processed, a list of all files and folders inside the archive will be displayed. You can then download any individual file by clicking the download button next to it.
How to Create a ZIP File
Switch to the 'Create ZIP' tab. Drag and drop the files you want to include in your archive, or click to select them. The list of selected files will appear. Click the 'Create ZIP' button to start the compression process. Once finished, the archive.zip file will be automatically downloaded to your computer.
Features and Limitations
This tool runs entirely in your browser (client-side), meaning your files are never sent to a server, ensuring privacy and speed. However, due to browser limitations, the total size of files for creating a ZIP is limited to 100MB. The tool supports standard ZIP formats and can handle nested folders.
